Troublesome .mkv video files

I have find some video files with extension of mkv will not run under GOM video player.
They will run under Zoom video player.

i honestly have not found a file yet that didn't work with combined community codec pack and media player classic.

yeah media player classic with cccp always works and they are continuously adding to their codec library

unfortunately the video my phone shoots (.3gp or something like that) will only run in quicktime. not thats its great video. but i'd still like to throw a couple of things up on my site for people to laugh at ;)

if you get quikctime pro you can convert the 3gp videos into other formats BUT i haven't found a way to cnovert them without losing the audio.

i don't know why but for whatever reason i can convert 3gp to almost anything else using QTPRO but the sound isn't converted with it. if i backwards convert something INTO 3gp the audio is kept.

not sure.
