About The Pittsburgh Anime Meetup

Welcome to the Pittsburgh Anime Meetup. Before we can kick things off and get to the good part, which is hanging out, we need to figure out the logistics. Ideally we can get as many people involved as possible. I'll put a few bullet points below, and feel free to drop your own comments by each one so we can find the best options possible. If we run out of characters, we can move this to a thread on the main page or something.

* (Dan) My range of motion is mostly limited by PAT buses, but I can get a Zipcar for a few hours if needed. I would still prefer we keep things more central, in Allegheny County, probably closer to downtown rather than farther. When I went to an anime meetup in California over the summer, we met at a Barnes and Noble and then bounced around to restaurants and a park to hang out more. To give us plenty of things to do, it might be a good idea to meet at a mall or shopping center such as Monroeville Mall, Robinson, Century III, Waterfront, etc. This would probably be ideal just for hanging out, since it would be easy to find some place to just crash, but we can also move around if we want to. Food is also nearby.
* (jim_aracich) so long as its in the pittsburg area, i'll be fine with that. the place we have the meetups should have a dvd player and tv. i have a good size anime dvd collection that i don't mind sharing. someplace near resturants wouldn't be bad.

* (Dan) I'm guessing most of us either have jobs or go to school, so I'm going to lean towards weekends. From there, I think it's really just preference. For me, Saturday afternoons are good. We may or may not want to be out too late, and sleeping in is nice. I would vote for Saturdays from noon until whenever, unless a specific event is planned. For just hanging out, two or three hours in the afternoon is probably just right.
* (JIm_aracich) so long as it is not the first weekend of the month as i have drill those weekend. i do work during the week but weekends are fine, just let me know the time.

* (Dan) I've got nothing specific in mind right now, although I would guess that things like Asian food and movies are a nice idea, especially with Speed Racer coming out this summer and rumors of live action Dragonball Z flying about. Not that I'm hinting or anything ;-) Please post other ideas, don't be shy!
* (jim_aracich) difinitely anime sharing(watching dvd's etc...), wouldn't mind a manga swap if there are those interested, perhaps plan a roadtrip to a convention(once again for those interested), table discussion(anime,manga, misc., member intro's), and possibly cosplay(for those interested).
