Hello everyone--welcome to our fifth anime brunch in Seattle!

As always, we'll meet up outside of Uwajimaya, the big Asian grocery in the middle of the International District (trust me, you can't miss it). We plan to stop at Kinokuniya and Uwajimaya both in order to drool over manga, movies, and delectable goodies. After that--we eat! I welcome any and all suggestions--previous places have included the cafe court, seafood hotpots, and other well-hidden and delicious restaurants. :-D And after that ... who knows? Past excursions have taken us to Chinese bakeries and having a Lion Dance performed for us during lunch, and there's still lots of places to explore!

I know the International District is tough for parking--hopefully the free Sunday parking and new light rail access will help with that. And if anyone wants to attend, but isn't sure of their transportation, feel free to shoot the group an e-mail; carpooling is a great way to meet other members.

So bring yourself and any friends--shopping is more fun with others, after all! I'll be there outside the main entrance of Uwajimaya--look for the girl in the funny monster hat under the big metal dragon sculpture--and I'll have a sign up as well.

If anyone else has any suggestions on where to go or things to do, let us know .... hopefully a fun time will be had by all!

Welcome to our monthly potluck for November! We're getting started a bit later than I wanted this month, due to the illnesses floating around, but I am now healthy and ready to watch some anime--hopefully you guys are too!

This month we will be featuring the final, nail-biting episodes of 'Toward the Terra'! (For latecomers: it's a gorgeous anime remake of a 1980 sci-fi classic where humans have left a ruined Earth for space, and are ruled by computers--and the psychic outcasts, the Mu, which are hunted and trying to find a way back to humanity's home.) In addition we will have Seimei no Moribito (female kickass bodyguard to a demon-possessed prince!), Mirage of Blaze and Sohryuden: Legend of the Dragon Kings available, along with any other anime people might want to bring (Gundam 00! *hinthint*)

The usual things to remember: we can't watch a whole series in a few hours, so we'll probably only watch a few episodes of any one thing, depending on what people want. So make sure to speak up if you like something--or if you want to bring something of your own. And please feel free to bring snacks to share with your fellow fans, if you want--women cannot live by anime alone, after all! :D

The meetup is at my place again from 3 pm to 8 pm or so--I have enough room for a small horde, at least. :) Be warned: I'm in the wilds of Kent, so my apologies to any of our more northerly folk. As always, if anyone wants to propose an alternate location, I'm always open to new options...

That's it for now--I hope to see you all there!

Since the last one went so well, it was only natural that we schedule another get together for tea!

So, let's meet at the Kuan Yin Teahouse in Wallingford for good tea and better company. Kuan Yin is a low-key venue, so we won't have to shout to be heard, and I can confirm they have lots of wonderfully different kinds of tea and snack items to experiment with.

We'll start at 2 pm; I plan on bringing my sketchbook (and possibly some manga to share), and I encourage others to bring anything they'd like to work on, discuss, or enjoy in the company of fellow-minded fen, whether it be fanart, fanfiction, or even your current cosplay project. Or just bring yourself, enjoy a pot of tea and chat with the rest of us!

If there are any questions or suggestions, don't be afraid to ask--as always, I look forward to seeing everyone!

Welcome, everyone, to our monthly potluck for October. I apologize for the delay, but now that the weather is getting colder, it's time to get together with some good company and watch some anime!

We'll be continuing with 'Toward the Terra' this month--a gorgeous anime remake of a 1980 sci-fi classic where humans have left a ruined Earth for space, and are ruled by computers--and the psychic outcasts, the Mu, which are hunted and trying to find a way back to humanity's home.

We'll also have Mirage of Blaze and Sohryuden: Legend of the Dragon Kings available, along with any other anime people might want to bring--including Gundam 00, if a certain member attends! *winkwink*

The usual things to remember: we can't watch a whole series in a few hours, so we'll probably only watch a few episodes of any one thing, depending on what people want. Welcome, everyone, to our monthly potluck for August--time to get back into the swing of things!

I have discovered a great new anime series--which means, of course, that I need to share it! That series is called 'Toward the Terra'--a gorgeous anime remake of a classic 1980 film. It's a look at a dystopian future where humans have left a ruined Earth for space, and are ruled by computers--and the psychic outcasts, the Mu, which are hunted and trying to find a way back to humanity's home.

We'll also have available Mirage of Blaze and Sohryuden: Legend of the Dragon Kings, along with any other requests people might have.

The usual things to remember: we can't watch a whole series in a few hours, so we'll probably only watch a few episodes of any one thing, depending on what people want. Hello everyone--welcome to our fourth Sunday anime brunch in Seattle! I apologize for the lack of meetups in July, but vacations will torpedo even the best-laid plans. Hopefully we can make up for it in August!

As always, we'll meet up outside of Uwajimaya, the big Asian grocery in the middle of the International District (trust me, you can't miss it). We plan to stop at Kinokuniya and Uwajimaya both in order to drool over manga, movies, and delectable goodies. After that--we eat! I welcome suggestions--I know of at least two or three good restaurants within walking distance that we can descend upon. :-D And after that ... who knows? Past excursions have taken us to Chinese bakeries and having a Lion Dance done for us during lunch, and there's still lots of places to explore!

I know the International District is tough for parking--still, I hope a Sunday get-together will be easier for people driving in terms of free street parking and less traffic. I apologize to any bus-riders, since I know the busses don't run as often.

So bring yourself and any friends--shopping is more fun with others, after all! I'll be there outside the main entrance of Uwajimaya--look for the girl in the black pirate coat under the big metal dragon sculpture--I'll have a sign up as well!

If anyone else has any suggestions on where to go or things to do, let us know .... hopefully a fun time will be had by all!

Welcome to our third Sunday anime brunch in Seattle!

As always, we'll meet up outside of Uwajimaya, the big Asian grocery in the middle of the International District (trust me, you can't miss it). We will stop at Kinokuniya and Uwajimaya both in order to drool over manga and such wonderous things as Pocky, Pocari sweat, rice crackers, and so on! After that--we eat! I welcome suggestions--I know of at least two or three good restaurants within walking distance that we can descend upon. :-D And after that ... who knows?

Welcome, everyone, to our monthly potluck for June! We had great fun last month--I hope we can keep the groove going:)

Since the anime series we kicked off last month seems to be pretty popular, we'll keep going--with, of course, any other anime people would like to bring and share! This month, we will continue with the next episodes of Mirage of Blaze, a very cool series about feudal lords reincarnated into possessed bodies who are now battling it out over modern Japan, and Sohruyden: Legend of the Dragon Kings, a series about four brothers who are the descendants of real dragons. I'll take a vote again afterwards for Sohruyden--and if people like the show, we'll continue with it, if not, we'll try something different in our next meetup.

The usual things to remember: obviously we can't watch a whole series in a few hours, so we'll probably only watch an episode or two of whatever people bring, depending on what we get. So make sure to choose the episodes/movies you love the best; and be willing to enlighten us with just how cool they are! And please feel free to bring snacks to share with your fellow fans, if you want--women cannot live by anime alone, after all! :D
